In the magical frame of the medieval town of Soave (Verona), the kick-off event of the EU-funded project RESIST – REsilience Support for critical Infrastructures through Standardised Training on CBRN – took place between November 12th and November 14th. The 1.1M euros CBRN capacity building program for the creation of the first 10 intervention groups composed by public and private operators from Italian and Romanian Critical Infrastructures (CI), certified, trained and equipped to operate in contaminated environments, will focus on reducing CBRN risks at CIs and foresee both real-life simulations (at the pilot CIs) and the opportunity to obtain a CBRN resilience label valid at EU level, open to private and public operators of CIs Europe-wide.
As leader of the consortium, SAFE invited in Soave all project partners (Italian Fire Brigade, Joint NBC Defence School, ENEA, IAI, University of Rome Tor Vergata, and the Romanian Cluster PROECO) to discuss about next steps and repartition of tasks, in view of putting into place a sound, timely and coordinated action. As such, the Kick-off meeting represented a great opportunity for Italian and Romanian partners not solely to meet in person, but more importantly to agree on a commonly shared implementation strategy, key for a collaboration of success.
As such, day 1 was dedicated to both presenting partners’ proposed contributions to the project (with a focus on the potential calendar of activities for joint planning) and to discussing technical features, financial and administrative planning, internal consortium rules and monitoring tools.
On the other hand, day 2 was articulated around two parallel sessions; one centered around the involvement of Romanian Critical Infrastructures, while the other one centered around practical planning of the training activities (to take place at the Joint Defence NBC School in Rieti in 2020).
